Prisoner of Tehran: A Memoir
see relatedSunday evening the youth group enjoyed a hayride and progressive supper. It was a beautiful evening, with an almost full moon, even though it did get a bit chilly.
We started off at our house.
Then we went to Krista and Gerald's where they had cheese ball and crackers. From there to Ben Shirks for salad.
After that we headed to Omar Stoltzfus's where we had lasagna and bread.
One way to get off a loaded wagon quickly is to just scoot up over the side.
Then we headed back to our place for dessert, coffee and hot chocolate. A good ending to a fun evening.

And here's another good fall recipe I tried the other week. These are good to serve for breakfast, or anytime with a cup of coffee, of course!
Pumpkin Spice Muffins
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup pumpkin
1/2 t. vanilla
1/2 cup oil
1 1/2 cups flour
1 t. baking soda
1 t. baking powder
1 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. salt
6 oz. mini chocolate chipsIn large mixing bowl beat eggs, sugar, pumpkin, vanilla and oil until smooth. Mix dry ingredients together and mix into pumpkin mixture. Fold in chocolate chips. Fill greased or paper lined muffin cups 3/4 full. Bake at 400 for 16-20 minutes.
Enjoy!

Recipe for the Week
On Saturday evenings I always make pizza for supper. Since I make it every week, I like to try new pizza recipes, to give us some variation. Recently I found this recipe for hot wing pizza. and we really liked it. I did do a bit of substuting, but it still turned out yummy. The recipe is from the April/May issue of TOH.
Hot Wing Pizza
2 or 3 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves
1 T. steak seasoning (I used hamburger seasoning, because that's what I had)
1/2 cup tomato sauce
2 T. butter
2 T. Louisiana-style hot sauce
1 T. hot pepper sauce
1/3 cup blue cheese dressing (I used ranch because I don't buy bleu cheese!)
3 green onions, thinly sliced ( I use regular onions)
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
pizza dough for one 12 inch pizzaDice chicken into small pieces, sprinkle with steak seasoning and saute until browned, and chicken is cooked through. I also sprinkle it with alittle bit of salt.
In a small saucepan bring the tomto sauce, butter, hot sauce and pepper sauce to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer uncovered fpr 10-15 minutes until slightly thickened. Add chicken; heat through. The first time I made it I used this sauce, but since I generally don't buy tomtato sauce, I decided the next time I would just add some spaghetti sauce and buffalo wing sauce to the chicken, and we liked that just as well.
Press pizza dough out onto pan. I use the same one that I use for my Italian Bread Wedges.http://ilovecooking.xanga.com/580127925/recipe-of-the-week/
Spread with salad dressing.
Top with chicken mixture.
(Tonight we all agreed that I should have put more sauce on the chicken, it needed a bit more of the hot wing flavor.)
Sprinkle with onions and cheese. I only put onions on about a quarter of it, as some people in this household have an aversion to them.Enjoy!

The Spy Went Dancing: My Further Adventures as an Undercover Agent
By Countess of Romanones Aline
see relatedAnniversary Trip Day 4 & 5
Friday morning we checked out of our motel and this time we drove north, up to Sugar Hill. We decided to eat at Polly's Pancake parlor, which was right along Route 117.
From the outside it didn't look like whole lot, but the pancakes were delicious. There selection of pancakes was huge, and you could order them made with all kinds of different batters. I had the blueberry, pumpkin and coconut. And I must say that the coconut were my favorite.
The view from Sugar Hill was spectacular.
I had wanted to get a picture of a New England church so we stopped to snap this photo.
We made a bit of a loop, stopping at Harman's Cheese and Country store, and at the Littleton Grist Mill. The Grist Mill was built in 1798, but the water wheel wasn't running because it had been broken by a rock.
After that we headed south again, towards the Franconia Notch area. We had tickets to ride the aerial tramway up Canon Mountain.
Scenery while ascending the mountain. When we got to the top we were transported into a winter wonderland.
We took a short hike which took us up to the 4,200-foot summit.
After leaving there we drove back north, stopping to hike to this lake.
It was from this lake that you used to be able to view the Old Man of The Mountain, but he "fell off" acouple of years ago.
By then we knew it was time to head out. So we drove back up through Franconia and Sugar Hill, heading towards Vermont. We had dinner and overnight plans with my uncle Abner and aunt Ginnie, who live there. We got there around 5:30, and they had a delicious supper waiting for us. And up in our bedroom was another surprise. Our kids had ordered flowers for us for our anniversary, and thanks to Abner and Ginnie, a beautiful bouquet was on our dresser.
After dinner my cousins, Fred and Sue and their families came over to visit and then we had dessert, delicious apple pie that Abner had made, with icecream and coffee.
We had a good nights rest, and some more good visiting over our breakfast of pancakes and sausage. Thanks, Uncle Abner and Aunt Ginnie, for your hospitality.
Then it was time to head home. We got home around 6:00.
We had a wonderful time, but it was good to see the kids again, and after all, what is better than home-sweet-home!
