Of Bridal Showers and Camping
Last Thursday evening was a bridal shower for Emeleen Detweiler up at Malta Park. Annette and I, with no prior planning, both wore red. We were planning to pick Krista up and Annette said, just watch, she'll have red on. Sure enough, she did. We thought that merited a picture!
And here are just a couple pictures from the shower itself. It was a lovely evening. That's Emeleen on the left.
Then on Friday evening we went camping with the youth group and Dale and Karyn, staying until Sunday afternoon. The campground is only about six miles from our house which makes it very convenient if you forget something! We really enjoyed the week-end. It was relaxing and a time of great fellowship with one another. The nights left a bit to be desired. Lets just say that a number of factors contributed to my few hours of sleep, especially on Friday evening. One thing I know, a deflated air mattress is not exactly a comfortable bed. The image of my nice cozy bed only six miles away kept floating through my mind!
On the way to the campground I had to record this momentous occasion in the life of our van.
Julie making the pancakes Saturday morning...
the guys making the sausage
and Jeff, Mike and Julian cleaning up.

Then we played some volleyball.
The peasels sticks got alot of use. These were something new for most of them and they thought they needed a new name. Karyn thought maybe bisstick?! Not sure if the name will stick, (no pun intended.)
The corn hole game was also kept busy.
Tim and Kendall grilling the chicken on Sunday.
We got home late Sunday afternoon. In the evening we went over to Krista and Gerald's to celebrate Tim's birthday which had been on Friday. She served us a yummy supper of touchdown taco dip and had a chocolate fountain with fruit. We topped it off with an icecream cake. We had a good evening together, a nice ending to our week-end. But probably the best ending was how good my bed felt last night!
